All those who have received an admit for education in an university at the United States of America would be looking at further processing their applications. Through this article I aim to point you all to the most important things one need to consider while filling DS160 form. This is also applicable for those who are applying for non-academic US VISA. At the end of this article I have cited a link I referred to fill my ds160.

1. Security

Before starting the application you’d be asked to enter a security question. Please do note it down as you’d have to remember it, probably till you get the visa.

2. Mis-Information

Never mis-interpret even a single letter. Everything will be fact checked by the embassy background verification team. Simply said : do not lie.

3. Cloud

There will be many documents you’ll be referring to (passport, i20..) while filling the form. Please create a folder on your desktop and integrate cloud storage (GoogleDrive) for real-time backup. Also, there’ll be many pages from DS160 you’ll be printing as PDF which needs to be saved for long time.

4. References

The last section asks users to provide atleast two references whom the embassy can contact. Never imagine the embassy won’t contact and provide random contacts. Please provide those who can completely be trusted.

5. Read

For god sake read every single word in on DS160. Do not take it lightly.

6. Print

There are many occasions on which you’d need to capture the details ( like application ID and barcode) and you’d be given an option to print the page. Please print the pages as PDF at regular interval.

7. Save & Email

The DS160 web portals max session time is 20mins. You’ll be given an option to save your entries. Please click on the save button for every 3 mins and after completing each section. You are also given option to email the final submission to an email id of your choice.

8. Lousy

Don’t be lousy and more importantly lazy. Complete ds160 in one go.
